cooms | sock is our bouncy 3-ply superwash merino yarn with added nylon for strength. It has a gorgeous sheen and the colours are always vibrant.

the music of light was one of the original shades from our first permanent 'a skein full of sky' collection, and it is a ~fluid~ blend of periwinkle, lavender, rosy pink, peachy coral, and subtle sandy gold tones. We've reinvented it by adding the option of a 20g mini-skein dyed in a vibrant semi-solid gold that we think sets it alight!

A single skein dyed like this lends itself perfectly to a small shawl/scarfette, we're thinking The Lone Skein Shawl by Joji Locatelli (ravelry link), or the classic Hitchhiker by Martina Behm (ravelry link) But we also think it would make a stunning Triagonal Shawlette by Ambah O'Brien (ravelry link), with the optional mini-skein 'pop' working its magic. (Or you could just knit a really gorgeous pair of socks...)

Archive edition OOAK shades are yarn bases and/or shades that might not have caught the imagination the first time around but we think deserve their moment in the sun! Re-worked and updated with pattern inspiration provided. They’re in the last chance saloon, so they include a discount or are sold as a bundle.

We dye our yarn in small batches using a combination of kettle dyeing for semi-solid and tonal shades and low-immersion and hand-painting for variegated shades that will 'pool' or 'flash' depending on gauge. Even within a dye batch, each skein is unique as a result of our dyeing techniques.

Although cooms | sock is spun from superwash fibre, we recommend hand washing in cool water to preserve the vibrancy of the dye and, as with all small-batch, hand-dyed yarn that doesn't have dye lots, we also recommend knitting alternate rows from two skeins when working on larger projects to avoid noticeable changes between skeins.

We use professional acid dyes with good light and wash fastness and do our best to exhaust every dye bath and reuse water wherever possible to reduce any further environmental impact. Occasionally a small amount of 'loose' dye may remain in the yarn after rinsing (most likely with deeply saturated shades) and we always recommend hand washing in very cool water and pre-washing your yarn separately if you are intending to mix light and dark shades in a single garment/project.
