Four sort-of siblings spend a summer in the south of France; swimming, talking, thinking, getting to know each other in the house their shared father owns but alone together for the first time. Things are already slightly weird, and then they get weirder...

I love Kerry Andrew's work. Novels, choral compositions, modern folk music as 'You Are Wolf', Kerry's talents are seemingly endless and this, their third novel, is my favourite of the three. Each of Kerry's novels (all of Kerry's work) is imbued with folk lore, nature, landscape, and the people finding their place amongst it all. There's been a sprinkling of magic realism, and the books have all pulled me deeply into their world and their characters. We Are Together Because has themes of sex, gender, and sexuality running through it, and it leans into science fiction while its feet are firmly planted on this earth.

Both the sky and water feature large in the narrative – as with all their books – and we all know how easily I am inspired by both those things! The shades I've created attempt to summon the soft light, the swimming lake, the sinister sky, and the life around the pool, with its dusty rippled surface and dappled light...
