{pingle - an old Suffolk word describing a small tufty enclosure or field}
This is a really fun yarn base that we couldn't resist giving the 'meadowyarn' treatment! It's a soft, superwash, 2-ply merino that has neon-dyed 'Donegal neps' spun through it. The neps resist the dye and keep their zing while the merino takes colour wonderfully, so we chose ten of our favourite soft, nature-inspired ~core~ shades to create a palette that has a beautiful 'dissonant harmony'. The neon neps also glow under ultraviolet or 'blacklight' - so if you're a knitter and a nightclubber, it's time to cast on the perfect party outfit!
Although pingle contains superwash merino fibre, we recommend hand washing in cool water to preserve the vibrancy of the dye. As with all small-batch, hand-dyed yarn that doesn't have dye lots, we also recommend knitting alternate rows from two skeins when working on larger projects to avoid noticeable changes between skeins with semi-solid shades and unwanted pooling or flashing with variegated shades.
We use professional acid dyes with good light and wash fastness and do our best to exhaust every dye bath and to reuse water wherever possible to reduce any further environmental impact. Occasionally a small amount of 'loose' dye may remain in the yarn after rinsing (most likely with deeply saturated shades) and we always recommend hand washing in very cool water and pre-washing your yarn separately if you are intending to mix light and dark shades in a single garment/project.
